Adams County Christmas Bird Count, January 1, 2015
We had a total of 37 species with 3,963 individual birds. Last year we had 42 species for a total of 4,706 birds. We had a total of 18 counters. We drove a total of 213 miles and walked a couple of miles.
Everyone had house sparrows and blue jays on their lists. Some of the highlights: bald eagles, northern harriers, red-headed woodpecker, brown creepers, great blue heron, pine siskins, hairy woodpeckers, northern flicker, swamp sparrow, wigeon and muscovy ducks. Tundra swans (even though they were in Jay Co). Surprise - no owls.
