April 19, 2014 Franke Park
Stockbridge Audubon's field trip to Franke Park started with 20 participants. Some dribbled away
before we were done, and missed the bird of the day: Black-crowned Night-Heron. This bird is rather
rare in Northeast Indiana, but is actually regular in Franke Park, especially in Fort Wayne Children's
Zoo. This one, spotted by Dave Messmann, was in a tree just outside the zoo.
Otherwise, not a lot was seen. We had only two warbler species, where usually at this time of year you
should see 20 or so. Nevertheless, a good time was had by all, especially those who stayed to the end.
