Twelve fresh frozen birders turned out on a cold, cloudy, windy day for Stockbridge Audubon Society's first spring field trip to Kankakee FWA. By my perhaps incomplete count, we recorded 47 species (including Great blue Heron, E. Bluebird, and Herring Gull that Sandy and I saw on the way home after the group split up). With a big assist from Kenneth Brock's lakefront group, we saw five species of geese plus a Golden Eagle. There was little water away from Toto Rd.; we did not do the river drive, and do not know if it was passable. The list: - 43 species
