May 7, 2016 Fox Island
Fifteen warbler-hungry birders stumbled around parts of Fox Island County Park this morning, hoping for a smorgasbord of delicious feathered treats. Alas, our cravings went largely unsatiated. Still, we didn't totally starve; we got 12 warblers among our 68 species. The bird of the day came after the field trip when many of the Stockbridge Audubon participants made the short drive from the park to the Ellison Road puddle hosting the two Black-necked Stilts. Thanks to Jim Haw for the initial posting and the note left on one of our vehicles, to Phil Wixom for the phone call relaying the posting, and to Eric and Mary Helfrich, who independently noted the birds and drove back to Fox Island to get us all on them. (BTW-- the birds were still there at 6:40tonight.) Our Fox Island migrant highlights with the accompanying pitifully low numbers:
