November 1, 2014 Lake Michigan lakefront
It was cold, windy, and cloudy before dawn today, but nevertheless eight birders appeared for our field trip to the Lakefront, led by John Winebrenner and me (Ed Powers).
Our first stop was at Michigan City harbor. There was little there, except our bird of the day, a WESTERN GREBE.
We drove along Beverly Drive, and viewed the lake from that area. After lunch we visited the State Park. Watching the feeders and taking a longish trail hike took up too much time for us to venture further west. So we turned for home after a pleasant if not spectacular day.
