Lake Michigan
November 3,2018
Six birders from Stockbridge Audubon enjoyed a fine crisp day on the lakefront.
We started a Michigan City Harbor. None of us is a lakewatch expert, so some very distant duck flocks went unidentified. One surprise was the unusually large number of Sanderlings. A resident Peregrine Falcon occupied its niche in the power plant smokestack.

Beverly Drive was rewarding, but a reported Northern Shrike was elusive. We encountered Jeff McCoy, who had seen it 15 minutes earlier, but hadn't seen it since. We searched for some time, with no luck. We tried again on our way back east, and dipped again.
