Pigeon River FWA
October 27, 2018
In spite of the light rain and temperatures in the 40s, five hearty souls had a pleasant time birding at Pigeon River FWA. A huge thank you goes out to Sam Plew who led us to many great spots. Although many birds were hunkered out of sight, probably smarter than the birders looking for them, we did end up with a decent list for the day. A few of the birds were seen on the way to and from and we added three species at the Fawn River Fish Hatchery in Orland (noted as FRFH). The sighting of two large shore birds in flight was a treat. Most probable ID is whimbrel.
Our list for the day:
Canada goose
Trumpeter swan
