Hurshtown Reservoir
October 27, 2019

Hurshtown Reservoir is a reserve water supply for the city of Fort Wayne, and is managed as a recreational resource by the Fort Wayne Parks and Recreation Department.  It is open to the public only from May to October, but for at least 20 years, the parks dept has granted Stockbridge Audubon permission not only to enter off-season, but to drive the perimeter of the reservoir.  We have another field trip there November 10; everyone is invited.

Only seven birders came out today.  Others may have been put off by the forecast for low termperatuers and high winds.  As it turned out, it was a nice day.

Hurshtown is often crowded with ducks, grebe, loons, and gulls when we visit.  Other times it is pretty dull, and this was one of those days.
