It was chilly and windy, with a threat of rain at Fox Island. Nevertheless, nine masochistic optimists, including four from an environmental science class at the University of St Francis, turned up for a Stockbridge Audubon field trip, led by Rodger Rang and me.  We were not especially rewarded for our effort, finding only 30 species, the best being an Orange-crowned Warbler and a late Green Heron.
